Today I’ll show you an example of Russian (Soviet) Jazz — Russian Folk Tale Репка (Turnip). This little video is an episode of a musical movie “Когда песня не кончается” (“When the Song does not end”) 1964

A plot of this Russian fairy tail is very easy:

Turnip. (Репка)

Once Grandpa planted a turnip. The turnip grew up a very very big one.

Grandpa came to pick the turnip. He pulled and pulled the turnip but couldn’t pull it up!

Grandpa called Grandma. Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip. They pulled and pulled but couldn’t pull it up!

Granddaughter came and was asked to help. Granddaughter pulled Grandma, Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip. They pulled and pulled but couldn’t pull it up!

Their doggy came. Doggy pulled Granddaughter, Granddaughter pulled Grandma, Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip. They pulled and pulled but couldn’t pull the turnip up!

Doggy called kitty came. Kitty pulled doggy, Doggy pulled Granddaughter, Granddaughter pulled Grandma, Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip. They pulled and pulled but couldn’t pull it up!

Kitty called a mouse came. The mouse pulled kitty, Kitty pulled doggy, Doggy pulled Granddaughter, Granddaughter pulled Grandma, Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip. They pulled and pulled and pulled the turnip up!
