Today Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has hosted Russia’s 72 Olympic medallists at the Kremlin following their recent return from Beijing. He said the country’s good Olympic performance was achieved despite the difficult and dramatic events Russia had to deal with in the Caucasus. He also added that he believes Russia can achieve even better results.

When I’m thinking about the Beijing Olympic Games what was recently over, I think about Moscow Olympic also! I was born in Moscow and have been live here all my life but I’ve never watched the Moscow Olympic Games. So today we all have a chance to watch Opening Ceremony of Moscow Olympic 1980. We chose a Kid’s Part of the Ceremony to watch today. Kids are always touchy and beautiful! So lets watch:

I think that today we will listen to one more song from Ballad of a Hussar movie. Now it will be a funny song one of my most favorite!
What is the song about?
Some King lived a very full life: he loved wine, war and women and even when Death came for him he fought her — but Death was “treacherous” and finally caught him… and the old reprobate died as he lived!

And maybe it’s interesting to watch a full version of this movie but only in Russian – sorry.

Recently we talked about an old Soviet movie: Ballad of a Hussar (Гусарская баллада), 1962.
Today I want to show you one more scene from this great movie and of course with a Good Song! The Russian name of this song is “Давным-давно” and I would translate it like “Long time ago”. That is typical marching song with refrain “Давным-давно, давным-давно, давным-давно…”
