Russian Movie: The Italian (English subtitles)

Everybody wants to believe in wonder, especially kids, especially kids in Russian orphan house. And how lucky was Vanya Solntsev (6 years old little boy) when a couple from Italy decided to adopt him and take him to their home in Italy…

Maybe Vanya Solntsev was strange, but he did not want to go to Italy. The only what he wanted he wanted to find his real (biological) mother.

So today we are watching a contemporary Russian movie made in 2005 by Andrei Kravchuk as movie director. The screenplay by Andrei Romanov, inspired by a true story, focuses on a young boy’s determined search for his mother.

The film won the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk Grand Prix and the Glass Bear for Best Feature Film at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival. Andrei Kravchuk won the CIFEJ Prize, awarded to the director of films especially designed for children or suitable for them, at the 2005 Carrousel International du Film in Montreal; the Cinekid Film Award at the 2005 Cinekid in Amsterdam; and the Grand Prix at the 2005 Honfleur Festival of Russian Cinema in France.

The film was Russia’s submission for consideration in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 78th Annual Academy Awards.

Russian Video: Eralash.

Eralash is Russian (Soviet) comedy TV show for kids. Kids also played the main parts there. I just loved these little 2-3 minutes series in my Soviet childhood.

Today I want to show you one of them about a broken iron. Watch it carefully and you’ll find out can the broken iron be fixed by young genius 😉

‘What Is That’ By Constantin Pilavios

This video is made by Greece movie director Constantin Pilavios. Why do I publish it here?

Because, I really like it. And because there are a lot of copies of this movie in Internet with Russian subtitles… So Russians like this short movie a lot and think that is very important to watch and show such movies.

Russian Video: Medvedev wants to use WikiLeaks!

“The global information flow, into which our globe has been plunged, has significantly changed the decision-making system and produced new problems. Some of them have lately been, so to speak, in public view,” Medvedev said at a ceremony in Moscow marking 90 years since the agency was formed.

Referring to the leaked US diplomatic messages he pointed out that there are both negative and positive aspects to the situation.

“This is good in some respects – at least this enables the intelligence service to employ more analytical potential and look at how your potential rivals see you. This also makes things more difficult, because it’s clear that nobody can feel safe against such problems today, and this needs to be taken into account in your current work,” Medvedev said.

Russian Video: Snow Comedy!

That is the most popular video in Russia this week. A lot of Russian bloggers embed it in their posts. Video is silent and easy to understand…

That’s sad to admit but most people are this way, are not they?

Russian video: Vladimir Putin can sing!

“Like the majority of people I cannot – but do like to sing and to play – so you’ll have to rough it,” he warned as he sat at the piano and played the beginning of Blueberry Hill. The tune was immediately caught by Maceo Parker’s jazz band. The prime minister then took the mic and sang it in English himself.

Putin sings! The charity fundraiser reception was dedicated to fighting children’s cancer and took place yesterday at ice stadium in St. Petersburg.
