Russian Video: Horsemen!

Hello,

Today we enjoy a Soviet posters collection about Russian Civil War (1917-1923) and Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

For our readers who wants to know more this energetic music is from movie “The Elusive Avengers”:

The Elusive Avengers is a vivid comedy version of a story about four youngsters who become heroes in the Russian Civil War. Valerka, a former schoolboy, joins Yashka, a devil-may-care gypsy and orphans, Danka and sister Ksanka. They make a pledge of mutual assistance, determined to exact revenge on the bandits who are bringing so much suffering to peaceful villagers. The friends then embark on a series of daring adventures.

Meanwhile, strange things begin to happen to a band of outlaws led by the ruthless bandit Ataman Burnash. All his schemes seem to go wrong, sabotaged by unseen and unidentified enemies. The mischievous culprits always leave a note signed ‘- the Elusive Avengers’, and are of course the four friends, who succeed by never forgetting their pledge of mutual assistance. You can read more about this movie and watch this movie with English subtitles here: The Elusive Avengers (Soviet Movie).

Look at these horsemen: they are afraid of nothing and they will fight for their goal, nothing can stop them – I wish all us to have high goals in life and be like these horsemen and achieve our goals!

Russian Video: Green Carriage (Зеленая Карета)!

Hello,

Today we continue listen to Russian Bard’s Song. Aleksander Sukhanov sings one of his most beautiful song “Green Carriage” (Зеленая Карета). We found a great video this song accompanies a cute cartoon:

What is this song about – that is a Lullaby Song! Lullaby song tells a fairy-tale that all pups and cubs, babies-hedgehogs and kids are sleeping. But high in the sky Green Carriage are running – six horses in the beautiful hats carry it… Nobody can run over the carriage because Spring is driving this carriage. And when all these little babies wake up in the morning they’ll see there is spring already!

That was the most favorite song in my hiking-youth! That was always the last song what we sang before going to bed… and later we sang this song to our kids – so beautiful it is!

Best wishes and find time to listen to songs what you loved in your childhood and youth,

Russian Video: Let's learn more about Ossetians!

Hello,

We all were shocked by the genocide against South Ossetia! Windows to Russia published a lot of articles about this tragedy. Russian Video from Russia published some videos about it too. But Russian Video from Russia is not political blog we see our mission to get people know about Russia and Russian culture by showing to people videos what we like. [And be honest with you we don’t like videos about war, videos about grief – but sometimes we must publish them also – if they show reality of our life!].

Today Russian Hour published a very interesting transmission about Ossetian culture and roots. “A close look at Ossetia, it’s history, traditions and culture. Important viewing if you want to try to understand what is happening there.” (How they describe these interesting series of video).

Russian Video: Beslan four years on — the grief remains!

Hello,

May be you never heard about The Tragedy in School Number One in Beslan (North Ossetia, Russia) what happened 4 years ago. Russian people remember it:

For our readers:

(CBS) The southern Russian town of Beslan, set near the beautiful Caucasus Mountains, is like any small city in America.

In this town of 30,000, kids ride bikes, play computer games, and as summer turns to fall, they prepare to go back to school. In Russia, the first day of school is a celebration.

It’s called “The Day of Knowledge,” and it takes place on Sept. 1. On that day, parents come with their children, and balloons and gifts are brought for the teachers.

“That’s, like, a big deal in Russia, and everyone is just waiting for this moment, when school starts,” says Dariya Fadeeva, 16, a high school senior in Beslan. “It’s also a big holiday for kids going to school for the first time.”

Dariya lived in the United States as an exchange student for a year in Euless, Texas, just outside Dallas. While she was in Texas, she missed her 12-year-old sister, Alia.

“She was so energizing. She liked to write, she used to write poems, and she even made a little book,” says Dariya. “She edited it herself. She made little drawings for her poems.”

Sept. 1, 2004, was a hot and sunny day, as Dariya helped her little sister, Alia, get ready for her first day of sixth grade. What was the last image she had of her sister that morning? “I told her I would see her after, and I remember her walking down the stairs.” Read more…

We wish you all the best and never have such tragedy in your life,

Russian Video: Ramadan in Russia!

Hello,

The Holy Month of Ramadan is being celebrated by Muslims all over the world. 20 million Muslims of Russia joined the month of fasting and religious rituals as a way of making family ties stronger. For practicing Muslims, Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is intended to teach self-control and discipline:

We’d like to wish a belated Ramadan Mubarak (blessed Ramadan) to all our Muslim readers: May your Ramadan be full of joy and may God accept our sacrifice and our pure intentions. Many of us have experienced difficulties and pain in the last year. Let’s use this holy month to turn to our Creator and ask for mercy, forgiveness, guidance and tranquility. Remember that fasting is not just about hunger and thirst. It’s about re-dedicating yourself to Allah; trying to become an excellent person in every way; and remembering those less fortunate than us. It’s a spiritual recharge to carry us through the year.
